In 2015, Steven Sloane was named Music Director of Operafront, the progressive Dutch opera company founded by Lotte de Beer with fellow directors Clement & Sanôu.
Operafront is committed to creating opera of the future, capturing the power of this centuries-old genre for today’s younger, broader audience.
Very often the term ‘accessible’ is associated with the terms ‘easy’, ‘flat’ and ‘one dimensional’. The directors of Operafront, on the contrary, hope that their search to create works that will be appreciated by a more diverse and younger audience, will go hand in hand with an enrichment of our own creativity.
Recent Operafront productions include Traviata Remixed, with new orchestrations by Moritz Eggert, and the world premieres of The New Prince by Mohammed Fairouz and Caliban by Moritz Eggert.
